About the Event
Week 1 — Online
Day 1 (Tue) — 6:00–9:00 PM (3 hrs) Orientation & HQL basics: eligibility, application steps, Livescan fingerprinting, MD storage/transport laws, safe handling rules. Course expectations & required materials. Intro to firearm types and nomenclature.
Day 2 (Thu) — 6:00–9:00 PM (3 hrs) Firearm mechanics & fundamentals: grip, stance, sight picture, trigger control, loading/unloading, basic malfunction drills (dry-fire practice). Holster basics and safe handling in home/transport contexts.
Week 2 — Online
Day 3 (Tue) — 6:00–9:00 PM (3 hrs) Concealment & practical carry: holster selection, concealment strategies, retention, drawing mechanics (dry-fire drills), equipment considerations. Intro to scenario-based decision-making.
Day 4 (Thu) — 6:00–9:00 PM (3 hrs) Maryland use-of-force law, prohibited places, after-incident protocol (calling police, evidence preservation, first aid basics). Final Q&A, knowledge quiz, qualification prep checklist for range day.
