Orientation & HQL basics: eligibility, application steps, Livescan fingerprinting, MD storage/transport laws, safe handling rules. Course expectations & required materials. Intro to firearm types and nomenclature.
Firearm mechanics & fundamentals: grip, stance, sight picture, trigger control, loading/unloading, basic malfunction drills (dry-fire practice). Holster basics and safe handling in home/transport contexts.
Maryland use-of-force law, prohibited places, after-incident protocol (calling police, evidence preservation, first aid basics).
